Junior Graphic Designer

Typical Duties

As a Junior Graphic Designer at Lyquix, you will focus on developing core skills while contributing to a variety of digital, print, and branding projects. You will work under the guidance of more experienced designers, learning established processes and gaining experience through hands-on tasks. You will work on small, well-defined tasks and support the team in creating design solutions that communicate effectively, enhance usability, and drive engagement.

Web and Digital Design

  • Assist in designing user interfaces (UI) for websites, web apps, and mobile apps, focusing on specific components or tasks.
  • Support the creation of wireframes, mockups, and prototypes under guidance.
  • Apply content design principles to align text, visuals, and multimedia, with feedback from Mid-Level and Senior Designers.

Branding and Visual Design

  • Assist in creating brand assets, including logos, typography, and color schemes, under direction.
  • Design simpler assets for digital and print platforms, such as banners, social media graphics, and brochures.
  • Follow established branding guidelines in all deliverables.

Content and Information Design

  • Assist in the creation of visuals for data presentations, focusing on learning information design principles.
  • Collaborate with content creators to ensure designs support messaging.
  • Apply foundational techniques for readability, accessibility, and SEO best practices.

Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Work closely with team members to complete tasks and learn workflows.
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Receive constructive feedback to refine skills and improve deliverables.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and refining designs during implementation.

Accessibility and Usability

  • Learn to ensure designs comply with accessibility standards and usability principles, with guidance.
  • Support usability testing by observing and contributing as directed.

Client Interaction

  • Attend client meetings to observe and learn about presenting designs and gathering feedback.

Activity and Time Tracking

  • Accurately track time and activity for projects using Lyquix's project management tools.
  • Provide status updates to project managers and clients.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Graphic Design, Interactive Design, Visual Communication, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience in graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing work in branding, web design, and digital media.
  • Relevant prior experience with coursework, internships, personal projects, or freelance work.

Web and Digital Design:

  • Working knowledge of designing responsive user interfaces (UI) for websites, and web apps.
  • Familiarity with interaction design principles, including user pathways, navigation, and micro-interactions.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and usability best practices.

Branding and Visual Design:

  • Working knowledge of creating assets for both digital and print media.
  • Familiarity with developing comprehensive brand identities, including logos, typography, color schemes, and brand guidelines.
  • Familiarity with layout, composition, typography, visual hierarchy, and color theory to create compelling designs that align with brand goals.

Content and Information Design:

  • Familiarity with collaborating with content creators to ensure alignment between design and content strategy.
  • Familiarity with creating designs that optimize readability and user engagement.

Tools and Software:

  • Working knowledge of design software such as Figma, Adobe XD, and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) for wireframing, prototyping, and design collaboration.
  • Familiarity with photo editing, including retouching, cropping, resizing, enhancing images, and performing color correction and grading.
  • Familiarity with creating and editing of vector graphics and illustrations.
  • Familiarity with optimizing image files, including selecting appropriate file formats for each use case, understanding their advantages, limitations, and impact on performance.
  • Familiarity with collaboration and project management tools.
